The Theatre Royal, Margate, was established by Royal Patent in 1786 and opened on the 27th June, 1787. It is the 2nd oldest theatre operating in Great Britain. It is also the oldest un-restored theatre in the country; its splendid auditorium dating from the 1874 designs by J T Robinson. |

Poetry in Performance the culmination of an intensive week-long Poetry Summer-School at Upton House in Poole. For this performance day, the Students had worked with Nick Crump (musician and instrument builder) and Raymond Sargent (actor and musician).
The performance was planned as a 'promenade' event at four locations in the grounds of Upton House. Regrettably, the inclement weather prevented this however the Drawing Room of Upton House made a superb venue, enabling the Students to fully demonstrate their literary, rhythmic and public reading skills. |

A Concert celebrating the Life and Work of the Dorset Poet, William Barnes
7.30pm at Dorchester Library, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset. As a finale piece of this concert, Ray composed an original piece but gave it no name. During its intruduction, Ray invited the audience to think of a title, and to let him know whilst he and Alice were packing up their equipment afterwards. It was considered that the best title was that suggested by Frank Whillock, the then Chairman of the William Barnes Society. His suggestion being; "Quiet Flows the Frome".
The River Frome flows through Dorchester, on its way towards Wareham and Poole Harbour.
